myDrips.com is a website that is used to help people with the Dividend Re-investment Plan investments. The following video gives a good introduction on how it can be used.
There are a few acronyms that are used on this site. This will go over what they stand for and what they mean. If we have missed any, please let us know.
ACB: Adjusted Cost Base
Adjusted Cost Base is the average cost of all your shares of a company. This is equal to all the money paid in (buys, dividend payments) divided by the number of shares you own in the company.
DRIP: Dividend Re-Investment Plan
This is an offer from the company to allow you to re-invest your dividends into additional shares of the company instead of receiving cash.
OCP: Optional Cash Purchase Plan
SPP: Share Purchase Plan
UPP: Unit Purchase Plan
These all mean the same thing and are interchangeable. This is an offer from the company to allow you to send in a cheque to invest in new shares directly from the company. This is (usually) without any transaction costs. SPP is usually for a corporation and UPP is usually for an income trust. SPP can refer to either.
You can create an account that tracks a single company for free. This will allow you the full functionality of the system for tracking dividend re-investments, optional cash purchases, and buys and sells.
If you wish to add additional companies, you can either purchase a monthly or annual subscription. Current costs are:
$3 per Month
$29 per Year (includes 3 courtesy free shares -- a $30 value!)
This gives you full access to all securities in our system as well as the ability to create multiple portfolios.
The following companies are currently listed in our database. Currently, we just have Canadian companies, but US companies are planned in the future. If there is a company you would like to see, please don't hesitate to request it on the Report Data Error page, with the subject 'New Security Request'.

This will take you to a summary page before confirming your payment. Click the 'Make Payment' button to confirm your payment.

We hope we can exceed your expectations and are always available for help and feedback!
Okay. First we will admit that the upgrade process isn't the most intuitive. That being said, it is relatively painless, but a bit kludgy.
First, you have to cancel as described above.
After cancelling, you go the the 'Subscription' button along the top of all the pages. Once on this page, you click the 'Renew' button. This will take you through the billing cycle.
Now, the renewal will extend your account from the end of your current subscription for the length of time you have selected. You aren't going to be double billed for anything and you will have full access over this time. The only caveat is that you are billed today for your monthly/annual subscription that will start at the end of your current subscription.

There are a few types of transactions that can be added in myDrips.com for Companies. They are:
Buy Transaction
A Buy transaction is when you buy a share or shares directly from another individual. The price and date are entirely up to you to decide which was correct.
Sell Transaction
A Sell transaction is when you sell a share or shares. This could be via a transfer out of your account, or directly through the transfer agent. The price and date are entirely up to you to decide which was correct.
OCP Transaction
An Option Cash Purchase (OCP) transaction is when you submit a cheque to the transfer agent to buy additional shares. This is for companies that have a Share Purchase Plan (SPP) plan. Here, we have entered many of the historical and future dates and prices into our database, so you just need to select the OCP Transaction Date from the list and we will populate the rest of the information automatically. Sometimes we may not have entered the price immediately after the OCP date. In that case, you may need to update that. If you wish to report a data error with our information, you can do that on the Data Error page. We'd greatly appreciate the help!
DRIP Transaction
A Dividend Re-Investment Plan (DRIP) transaction is when the dividends paid from the company are re-invested into new shares of the company. This is for companies that have a DRIP plan. Here, we have entered many of the historical and future dates and prices into our database. These transactions are automatically added to your portfolio when you buy a share and do not need to add them. You (hopefully) just need to confirm them. You can edit them though if our information is incorrect (or the transfer agent rounded your information differently as they sometimes do). If you wish to report a data error with our information, you can do that on the Data Error page. We'd greatly appreciate the help!
Split Transaction
A Split transaction is when the company does a split. This is done automatically by the system. You just need to confirm the transaction. If you wish to report a data error with our information, you can do that on the Data Error page. We'd greatly appreciate the help!
The following questions will go into more detail for each of the transaction types and how to make use of them!
The My Transactions page is used to show all transactions for all shares that you own. You can select a single company from your drop down list to show only 1 company. You can also choose to display only 'Unapproved' transactions. These are transactions (DRIP or Split) that have not yet been approved by you.
The columns on this table are as follows:

This is the Type of transaction. This can be Buy (buying shares), Sell (selling shares), OCP (an optional cash purchase was sent to the company), DRIP (a dividend paid by the company) or a SPLIT (the company has split the shares).
Opening # Shares
This is the number of shares that you held as of the record date before the transaction. Note that the record date happens 1 to 30 days before the transaction date, so its possible that a buy or sell before the transaction date results in shares that will not be included in this transaction. For more information on Record VS Transaction Dates, see the FAQ: 'What's the difference between a Record and Transaction Date?'
Dividend
This is the Dividend that paid for each share of this company.
Transaction Amt
This is the total Transaction Amount that is paid for this date. For a DRIP transaction, this should equal Opening Number of Shares * Dividend. For Buy or Sell Transactions, this amount is entered by the you.
Price/Share
This is the price per share that is used for this transaction (ie: the price the shares were bought, sold or reinvested at).
Change in Shares
This is the change in shares for this transaction (bought or re-invested will be a positive number, whereas sales will result in a negative number).

Updated # Shares
This is the update number of shares held after the transaction has taken place.
ACB
This is the adjusted cost base for your shares after this transaction date.
Re-Invested
This is used for DRIP transactions only and is used to mark that the dividends were re-invested into new shares. If you were paid the dividends instead, you would uncheck this box.
Confirmed
This marks that the transaction was confirmed.
Action
This is where you can select if you want to edit or delete this transaction.
A Split transaction is when the company does a split. This is done automatically by the system. You just need to confirm the transaction by clicking on the yellow checkmark as shown below.

Sometimes instead of re-investing a dividend payment, you might receive a cheque. This could be because you haven't gotten in the paperwork yet for the Dividend Re-Investment Plan, or perhaps you are enjoy the fruits of your labours and starting to receive some cheques for spending money. In either case, you can simply mark a dividend as non reinvested, but editing a DRIP transaction, and unchecking the 'Reinvested' checkbox. This is done by following these steps:

The Transaction Date is the date that transaction actually occurs on. For example for DRIP transactions, this is the actual date that the dividends are paid.
